Expat population increased by 113% compared to 2010 Census in Oman

Muscat: Oman TV reported that it will broadcast today at 6 pm on public channels and websites a press conference on the results of the electronic census of population, housing and establishments 2020

This comes after the approval of His Majesty the Sultan -the results of the electronic census of population, housing and establishments 2020, expressing his satisfaction with the success of the census project, and his great appreciation to the Supreme National Committee.

His Excellency Sayyid Hammoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, Chairman of the Supreme Committee, the electronic census 2020, said at the press conference for the results of the electronic census of population, housing and establishments 2020: The number of Omanis increased by 40% and expatriates 113% compared to the 2010 census

The population of the Sultanate in 2020 reached 4,471,148 people, compared to the year 2010 of 2,773,479, with an increase of 61%.

The total population of Omanis is (2,731,456) compared to the 2010 census, which was (1,957,336) with an increase rate of (40%).

The total population of expatriates reached (1,739,692)  compared to the 2010 census, which was (816,143) with an increase rate of (113%) .

The number of Omani families reached (406,303), compared to the 2010 census, where the number of families was (260,120), with an increase rate of (55%).

Muscat Governorate maintained its lead in the Sultanate’s governorates in terms of population, as its total population reached (1,302,440) compared to the 2010 census, where the population was (775,878) at a rate of increase ( 68%).

The number of residential and non-residential units reached (1,312,327), compared to the 2010 census, where the number of units was (731,968), with an increase rate of (79%).

The number of profit and non-profit establishments reached (307,462), compared to the 2010 census, where the number of establishments was (115,851), with an increase rate of (165%).

The e-census portal, which will be launched shortly, will also provide a huge amount of detailed data for a number of aspects, the most important of which are demographic, social and economic, which allows institutions, individuals and researchers to make the most of it in various fields and to develop strategic plans for their implementation.
