Muscat: During the holy month of Ramadan, a total of 1,115 indebted people who were detained for failure to meet their financial obligations were released through Fak-Kurba initiative undertaken by Oman Lawyers Association Dr. Mohammed Ibrahim Al Zadjali, In-charge of Fak-Kurba Initiative, said that the initiative aims to release a total of 1,500 detained indebted people by the end of May 2024.
Priority in relief payment is accorded to the categories of “least debts” and “older indebted people”, said Al Zadjali, noting that the procedure takes place in accordance with conditions set by the Judicial Administrative Affairs Council.
More than 7,000 detained indebted people have been released through this initiative since 2012.
