Muscat Hosts 5th Fiber Connect MENA Conference and Expo

Muscat:  The activities of the 5th Fiber Connect Council MENA Conference and Expo commenced today in Muscat, focusing on the accelerated development of fiber optic infrastructure supported by artificial intelligence technologies.

The two-day conference attracted more than 270 sector leaders, policymakers, and technical experts, who are discussing the latest innovations in optical fiber technologies, their integration with artificial intelligence, and their role in accelerating digital transformation. The conference is organized by the Fiber Connect Council MENA in partnership with Oman Broadband Company as the host entity.

The inauguration of the conference was held under the patronage of HH Sayyid Dr. Adham Turki Al Said, who emphasized that the event reinforces national efforts aimed at developing digital infrastructure and highlights the pivotal role of optical fiber networks in enabling digital transformation.

He added that developing digital infrastructure and enhancing the national economy’s readiness to meet future requirements represent a fundamental pillar for supporting innovation, stimulating investment, and improving service efficiency, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.

The conference features the presentation of several working papers and specialized sessions addressing topics such as the role of policies and regulatory frameworks in artificial intelligence infrastructure, building an AI-ready future through fiber networks, access network cost competitiveness, fiber-to-the-home deployment, data centers, and AI adoption.

An accompanying exhibition is also being held, with the participation of a select group of regional and international technology and solutions providers, showcasing the latest optical fiber deployment technologies, AI-powered network management systems, and next-generation digital infrastructure solutions.
