Fifth Cinemana International Festival opens in Musandam

Khasab: The “Cinemana” International Festival in its fifth edition was opened at the Khasab Sports and Cultural Club in Musandam Governorate, organized by the Office of the Governor of Musandam and a number of government and private agencies, under the patronage of His Excellency Sayyid Saeed bin Sultan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth.

The festival aims to shed light on the cultural, tourism and economic movement through holding festivals, hosting stars, and other accompanying activities and events. With the aim of spreading the culture of cinema, and introducing society to the role of cinema in the cultural movement, in addition to highlighting young talents in the field of filmmaking and encouraging and developing creative content.

The opening ceremony included the presentation of the names of the 130 films participating in the festival, of which 6 films qualified in the field of feature films, and 11 films in the field of short films, in addition to the screening of the film “The Story of a Fort” by Omani director Sultan Al-Ahmad, which embodies the historical story of the Khasab Fort.

Honoring Omani and Arab artists, guests of the festival, and government and private institutions sponsoring the festival.

The opening ceremony also included the inauguration of the “Generations Cinema” team under the umbrella of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth, headed by Dr. Khalid bin Abdul Rahim Al-Zadjali. The team aims to advance what the cinema industry means and move behind a vision based on a modern academic cinema system that keeps pace with modern technological progress. It will also be an established cinematic platform. To refine and develop cinematic talents by paying attention to qualifying, developing and nurturing the amateur generation who wants to learn the cinematic field and embracing makers and enthusiasts of the seventh art at all age levels with capabilities and plans that serve this art and make it realistic, tangible results at the local and global levels.
