Muscat: The Court of First Instance in Salalah recently issued a court ruling convicting a defendant working in an aluminum workshop with misdemeanor for failure to provide the service properly during the agreed period, in violation of the Consumer Protection Law issued by Royal Decree No. (66/2014), which imposed a fine of (OMR 1000).

The details of the incident are summarized in the management receiving a complaint from a consumer against an aluminum workshop in Salalah, according to which he agreed with the workshop to make aluminum windows and doors at a value of (OMR 11,597), where the consumer paid a deposit of (OMR 10,500), provided that the work is done within A specific period of time, but the workshop violated the agreement and did not complete the work as agreed.

After verification and preparation of the question report, collecting the evidence, and the completion of the case file, it has been proven that the institution does not adhere to the agreement concluded between them, which is in violation of Article (23) of the Consumer Protection Law, which states that (the provider shall provide the service to the consumer properly and ensure the service within a period of time commensurate with In the event of a breach of this, he is obligated to refund the value of that service), and in light of this, the case file was referred to the public prosecution, who referred it to the competent court and issued the aforementioned judgment.
