    • First day of Muharram 2020 holiday announced in Oman

    Muscat: The Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs announced that the sighting of the crescent of Muharram 1442 AH has not been confirmed this evening, Wednesday, August 19, 2020 AD.

    Based on this announcement, tomorrow, Thursday is the last day of Dhul Hijjah 1441 AH, and Friday will be the first day of Muharram 1442 AH, corresponding to August 21, 2020.

    Therefore, on Sunday August 23, 2020 , an official holiday will be given to employees of ministries, public authorities and other units of the state’s administrative apparatus, and workers in companies, institutions and private sector establishments.

    On the occasion of the new Hijri year, the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs is pleased to extend its sincere congratulations and blessings to His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, may God protect him – praying to the Almighty God to restore this occasion to His Majesty for long periods of time, and to Oman with glory and determination and for The Islamic nation with good and blessings .
