Muscat: The activities of the “First International Conference on Earth Sciences and Energy Transition” will start tomorrow at Sultan Qaboos University, with the participation of 162 people from 26 countries under the auspices of Dr. Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation.

The conference seeks, over a period of 5 days, to highlight the role of earth sciences and their importance in the transition to clean energy, and to know the findings of studies in the transition to clean energy and the fight against carbon dioxide emissions, while knowing the types of alternative energy and which ones are more exploitable and economically appropriate. Experience locally and globally in this field.

Seven keynote speakers from the Sultanate of Oman, Australia, Britain and Pakistan will participate in the conference. They will discuss several topics that include 10 axes, which are hydrogen energy, thermal energy, solar energy, wind energy, in addition to water energy, wind energy, tides, energy storage, energy waste, the environment, economics, policies and management. Energy, as well as the absorption, exploitation and storage of carbon dioxide and non-renewable energy sources.

It is worth noting that 139 abstracts were accepted at the conference, and it also includes 64 lectures in attendance and 28 lectures via visual communication, in addition to 7 scientific posters in attendance and 10 posters via visual communication. The total number of participants in the conference work and attendance is 162 participants from 26 countries, and the conference is accompanied by two sessions. Two training sessions and one field visit.

The conference is organized by the Earth Sciences Research Center at Sultan Qaboos University in cooperation with the UNESCO Chair in Ophiolite Studies, and with the support of Occidental, Petroleum Development Oman, Daleel Petroleum, Petrogas, and CGG.
