Muscat: Deliberations of the 1st Oman-US Strategic Dialogue kicked off in Muscat today.

The Strategic Dialogue discussed topics related to maximizing the benefit from the free trade agreement (FTA) between the two countries, increasing US investments in priority sectors for the Sultanate of Oman, and cooperation in the field of digital economy.

The dialogue also touched on cooperation in the fields of alternative energy, green hydrogen, education and culture, particularly educational programmes, investment in innovation, scientific research, curriculum development and teacher training, as well as cooperation in the field of museums and promotion of Omani publications.

The Undersecretary for Diplomatic Affairs affirmed that the dialogue focuses on several sectors, represented in renewable energy, education, culture, trade and investment. It is hoped that the dialogue will contribute to activating economic, technical and cultural relations between the Sultanate of Oman and the United States of America.

A memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed on the sidelines of the dialogue by the Sultanate of Oman and the United States of America to promote trade and investment in strategic fields for the Omani economy.
