Muscat: Omani Photographer Haitham bin Khamis Al Farsi has joined the National Geographic as a professional photographer among 80 collaborating photographers around the world and is the first Omani photographer to work in this global agency. 

Al Farsi was chosen through a process followed by the agency, represented in the work of specialised committees that follow the world’s photographers on websites and electronic platforms and search for their artwork, mechanisms for submitting their images and topics of those works that fit the agency’s artistic vision. 

The joining of the global agency comes with the aim of publishing photos and videos about the Sultanate of Oman in various fields such as adventure tourism, Omani culture, nature and wildlife, and others that will enhance the presence of the Sultanate of Oman in this aspect, and will be highlighted by publishing it on the agency’s official platforms that attract millions of followers from all over the world. 

In a statement to Oman news agency said: Al Farsi pointed out the importance of this cooperation as it represents a catalyst and impulse towards more creativity, and Is an important gateway to getting to know the Sultanate of Oman closely.

Al-farsi added that the agency recently published two pictures of his works, the first of which is of a female green turtle during the nesting period in the Ras Al Had Reserve in the Wilayat of Sur, and the second that shows and overhead scene of breaking fast during the blessed month of Ramadan in the Sidra Mosque in the Wilayat of Jalan Bani Bu Ali.

Al-Farsi explained that he is happy with this cooperation, which he considers exceptional, adding to his experience a richness in the worlds of the image and promoting it, especially since the Sultanate of Oman possesses various unique ingredients, in addition to geographical and environmental diversity.
