First session of Oman Climate Week from February 24

Muscat: The first session of Oman Climate Week will begin from February 24 to 27, 2025 at the Oman Convention and Exhibition Centre under the slogan “Life in a Sustainable World”. This came during a press conference held today in Muscat on the details of the first session of the Oman Climate Week, which aims to enhance climate action, facilitate regional cooperation, drive local and regional businesses, support the adoption and expansion of solutions, and encourage community participation.

The organization of the first session of the Oman Climate Week activities comes to confirm the Sultanate of Oman’s commitment to all agreements and protocols related to the environment and climate change, including the Paris Agreement, through its obligations under the Paris Agreement, Oman Vision 2040, and the National Climate Strategy.

The event will be attended by a number of local, regional and international environmental experts to address the challenges of climate change and explore environmental investment and cooperative economic opportunities in the Sultanate of Oman, considering it a center for sustainable innovation. The events will include a variety of activities, sessions and workshops from various sectors, academic institutions and civil society organizations, in addition to a comprehensive exhibition of the latest innovations in climate and environmental technology.

The events will be accompanied by working sessions bringing together global experts, policy and decision makers and leaders to discuss climate challenges and explore solutions, in addition to field visits to sustainable projects and practices in the Sultanate of Oman.

The activities of Oman Climate Week will address the vital role of women in climate and women leaders in this field. Student competitions and community activities will be held on the sidelines of the events to promote sustainable environmental and climate practices.

His Excellency Dr. Abdullah bin Ali Al Amri, Chairman of the Environment Authority and Chairman of the Steering Committee, said in a statement that organizing the first session of the Oman Climate Week comes after organizing a group of events related to climate change and environmental safety regionally and globally.

His Excellency added that the first session of the Oman Climate Week will discuss many issues to come up with policies, strategies, initiatives and projects to be implemented in various countries.

His Excellency explained that the first session of the Oman Climate Week will witness wide participation from international organizations and government agencies with close ties working side by side with the Environment Authority, noting that the activities of the Oman Climate Week are an opportunity to exchange information and expertise between global public and private organizations and agencies, and also provide an opportunity for the private sector to highlight its initiatives and projects.

It is worth noting that the first session of the Oman Climate Week activities is organized by the Environment Authority in cooperation with the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, and Sultan Qaboos University, with the support of an international and technical committee, including the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and the United Nations Environment Program.
