Fish Landing Center Project in Fins to Improve Fishermen’s Operations
Qurayyat: The fish landing center project in the village of Fins in the Wilayat of Qurayyat, Muscat Governorate, constitutes a key initiative supporting food security and the development of the fisheries sector in the Sultanate of Oman.
The project is being implemented by the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources as part of its ongoing efforts to upgrade infrastructure in the marine fisheries sector and enhance support for fishermen.
Eng. Ahmed bin Saeed Al Rashdi, Director of the Rehabilitation and Maintenance Department at the ministry, said that the project is valued at approximately RO 3 million. It includes the construction of protective breakwaters for fishing boats, a dedicated slipway, and an investment area estimated at around 10,000 square metres to support fisheries-related activities.
He added, in a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), that the project also comprises essential infrastructure works, including electricity and water networks, as well as internal roads. The project is expected to be completed by mid-2027.
Al Rashdi noted that the project will contribute to improving the working environment for fishermen, enhancing the efficiency of fish landing operations, and stimulating local economic activity. He affirmed that such initiatives play a vital role in strengthening food security and supporting sustainable growth in the fisheries sector.
