Large quantities of catch campaign, but these fishermen’s cruises sometimes face some obstacles, the most important of which is the lack of sardine fish known as the bait that is used for fishing, and the severity of the monsoon winds at some times of the year.

Al Sunaidi added: “Masirah Island is famous for several fishing seasons, the most important of which is the fishing season for the geether fish, and it starts from January until mid-June every year. Continuous and continuous trips, explaining that the fishing process is carried out by fishing with threads using the bait of sardines, which are live and not icy, in addition to the use of artificial bait through the process of pulling the thread, known locally as mayawsh.

The Director of the Department of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in the Wilayat of Masirah added that the statistics registered in the Ministry indicate that there are more than 2,000 fishermen in the state who use approximately 1,000 fishing boats, and take the fishing profession as a basic profession, not to mention other groups that take such support professions to improve the level of income for fishermen. Most of the island’s residents have to provide a decent living for themselves and their families.
