Fishing port of Duqm will help Omani fishermen increase their profits

His Excellency Engineer Ahmed bin Hassan Al-Dheeb, Vice President of the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones, said: “The fishing port in the Special Economic Zone in Duqm is one of the largest fishing ports established in the Sultanate of Oman, with very large depths to accommodate large and small fishing vessels, and we count on this the port is to play a major role in attracting fishing vessels and fishing companies.

His Excellency added in exclusive statements to Al-Shabiba: “The port will link a special area for fish industries, which is currently the largest area for fish industries in the Sultanate of Oman. Also, due to its proximity to the port of Duqm, it will also enhance the export of fish products and products of factories located in the area Duqm Economic Zone.

He said, “The port will be an attractive factor for investments, especially in the fishery industries, since the region has a lot of fish stocks, which can help Omani fishermen invest their projects and increase their profits in fishing and fish production projects, fish canning, and other fish products.” in the Sultanate of Oman.

It is worth noting that the Public Authority for Special Economic Zones and Free Zones signed, yesterday, Thursday, a usufruct agreement for the sea fishing port with the Marsa Duqm Investment Company.

The agreement aims to benefit from the lands of the fishing port and to develop and implement commercial facilities with an area of ​​300,000 square meters, which will be used to serve fishery and commercial activities related to it within the framework of the efforts exerted to develop and operate the port to attract local and international investments in the fisheries sector, one of the economic engines of the economic zone at Duqm.
