Muscat: The Oman Football Association on Sunday officially decided to hold matches for the national teams and competitions organized by the association without a public presence, in compliance with the decision of the competent authority.
The Oman Football Association in a statement said: “In implementation of the decisions of the Supreme Committee issued last Friday, related to suspending the holding of activities or holding them without public presence, it was decided to hold all matches, and leagues be played behind closed doors as a precautionary measures amid fears of the prevailing situation of Omicron.
The participants have also been told adhere to all the precautionary controls established by the concerned authorities, until further notice, by the Supreme Committee charged with examining a mechanism for dealing with developments resulting from the spread of the Corona virus.
The Omani team is awaiting an important confrontation in the final qualifiers for the World Cup Qatar 2022, when it hosts its Australian counterpart, on the first of next February, at the Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex in Muscat, but the Omani fans will not be able to attend.
The Oman Football Association had decided to return the fans to the stadiums last October at a rate of (50%) for the first time since the start of the pandemic, before the start of the current season 2021-2022.
