Foreign Investments in Oman exceed OMR 22 bn in 2020
Muscat: The results of the 15th edition of the Statistical Bulletin of Foreign Investment in the Sultanate of Omani issued by the National Centre for Statistics and Information (NCSI) showed a rapid increased in foreign direct investments
The results showed an increase in total foreign direct investments increased by 6 percent to OMR 22.244 billion at the end of 2020 compared to OMR 20.98 billion during the same period in 2019.
The cashflows in foreign investments increased by 24.5% to reach OMR 1.261 billion at the end of 2020 compared to 2019, according to the NCSI statistical bulletin.
The oil and gas production sector secured the bulk of foreign investments of oMR 11.174 bn at the end of 2020, an increase of 50.2% compared to the same period in 2019, followed by the financial sector at the total investment of oMR 6.6bn, and increased of 27% comarped to the same period in 2019 and the manufacturing sector at a total investment of OMR 2.013 bn.
The UK topped the FDI list in the Sultanate at the end of 2020 with the total investment of OMR 7.112 bn, followed by the USA with an investment of OMR 2.045 bn and the UAE investment at OMR 998.3 million.
