Forum for members of Seafaring committees in Dhofar

Salalah: The General Directorate of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources in Dhofar Governorate today, organized the forum of members of Seafaring committees in the governorate.

The event was sponsored by Eng. Yacoub bin Khalfan Al Busaidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources for Fisheries.

Engineer Rashid bin Saeed Al-Ghafri delivered the speech Director General of the General Directorate of Agricultural, Fisheries and Water Resources in Dhofar Governorate in a speech which he referred to the role of society and the importance of its participation in organizing this vital sector and introducing the laws and customs of the sea and their role in the past and present, as Seafaring committees were formed in various states in the Sultanate of Oman for more than 20 years ago.

He pointed out that the committees over the years has contributed an active role in building and drafting regulations and decisions, and in the field of sector development Fisheries, awareness raising, and submitting proposals.

The forum saw the presentation of two working papers, the first dealt with the “regulatory system”  of fishing and the second focused on the “purviews and recommendations” of seafaring committees.

The event also included a visual display featuring the components of fish resources in Dhofar Governorate. Outstanding members of the panels and top performers were honoured at the conclusion of the forum.
