Annual Camel Racing Competitions Launch Next Sunday

Muscat: The Oman Camel Racing Federation held a press conference in Muscat today to announce details of its annual camel race, scheduled to begin next Sunday and continue for four days at the Al Falaj Racetrack.

Sheikh Said Saud Al Ghufaili, Chairman of the Oman Camel Racing Federation, stated that the race forms part of the Federation’s annual programmes aimed at developing camel sports and preserving this traditional heritage. He confirmed that the organizing committee has completed all technical and organizational preparations to welcome participants from within and outside the Sultanate of Oman.

He explained that adjustments were made to the race schedule to ensure optimal competition conditions across different breeds and age categories.

Sheikh Said added that the race will be held in morning and evening rounds and is expected to see strong competition among institutional camels, including those representing Gulf camels, the Royal Camel Corps, and Al Bashair camels, as well as privately owned camels belonging to citizens of the Sultanate of Oman and other GCC countries.

The organizing committee has allocated valuable prizes for first-place winners across all race categories.
