Following the French Space Days in Abu Dhabi, the initiative extended France’s engagement with the Gulf’s space ecosystems to Oman, where satellite technologies and space-based applications are gaining importance in support of economic diversification, digital transformation and national development priorities.
The French delegation brought expertise spanning satellite systems, Earth observation, telecommunications, launch technologies, orbital services and emerging space applications. France and Oman: Expanding Cooperation in Innovation and Advanced Technologies

France and Oman enjoy longstanding diplomatic and economic relations built on mutual trust, shared ambitions for innovation, and a commitment to sustainable development. These ties continue to deepen across a growing number of strategic sectors, including advanced technologies, research, industry and digital transformation.

As Oman accelerates its economic diversification efforts under Oman Vision 2040, advanced technologies, digital transformation, and innovation-driven industries are playing an increasingly important role in supporting the country’s future growth. Space technologies offer promising opportunities across sectors including telecommunications, environmental monitoring, maritime activities, infrastructure development, logistics, and disaster management.

France, through its world-renowned space ecosystem and industrial expertise, is uniquely positioned to support the development of strategic partnerships in these areas. Bringing together public institutions, technology companies, and research organizations, the French space sector offers expertise across the entire value chain, from satellite manufacturing and launch systems to downstream applications and data services.

A Day Dedicated to Industry Dialogue and Strategic Engagement

The Oman edition of the French Space Days took place at the JW Marriott Hotel Muscat, bringing together French and Omani representatives for a full day dedicated to dialogue, knowledge sharing and the development of concrete business partnerships.

The morning programme opened with welcome remarks from H.E. Nabil HAJLAOUI, Ambassador of France to the Sultanate of Oman, Dr. Saoud AL SHOAILI, Head of the National Space Program at Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT), and Mrs. Christelle ASTORG-LÉPINE, Space Attaché at the Embassy of France and representative of CNES.

The agenda featured a series of thematic presentations by MTCIT, Etlaq Spaceport and MBSAT, offering insights into Oman’s evolving space ecosystem, its growing capabilities and opportunities for international collaboration. The French delegation also took part in pitch sessions, showcasing technologies and solutions across the space value chain and helping Omani stakeholders identify potential areas for cooperation.

The programme also included eight rounds of targeted B2B meetings between French companies and Omani stakeholders, providing a concrete framework for discussing potential projects, commercial partnerships and longer-term industrial cooperation. The business meetings were followed by a networking lunch designed to further facilitate exchanges among participants.

In the afternoon, the French delegation visited OmanSat, offering participants an opportunity to gain further insight into Oman’s developing space capabilities and ambitions.

The day concluded with a networking reception at the French Residence, bringing together representatives from government institutions, industry and the wider innovation ecosystem to strengthen relationships and explore future cooperation opportunities.

The initiative reflects France’s commitment to deepening its cooperation with the Sultanate of Oman and supporting the emergence of innovative partnerships that will help shape the future of the space industry across the region.

“Space was one of the first areas of cooperation mentioned by our two leaders during His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik’s visit to Paris last summer. We highlighted the potential for future cooperation, and we now must move forward with its implementation. We have the commitment of CNES, strong partners in Oman and 15 innovative French companies here today, all ready to contribute to this cooperation,” said H.E. Nabil HAJLAOUI, Ambassador of France to the Sultanate of Oman.

“France and Oman share a common ambition to leverage innovation and technology to support sustainable development and economic diversification. French Space Days Oman provides a valuable opportunity to connect our respective ecosystems, showcase French expertise across the space value chain, and explore new avenues for industrial, technological and commercial cooperation,” commented Mrs. Christelle ASTORG-LÉPINE, Space Attaché at the Embassy of France and representative of CNES.

“France has world-class expertise in the space industry. We see significant opportunities to build long-term partnerships focused on technology transfer, knowledge localisation and capability development, creating value for both sides and contributing to the development of a sustainable national space industry,” said Dr. Saoud AL SHOAILI, Head of National Space Program at Oman’s Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (MTCIT).
