Russia says detected first case of H5N8 avian flu transmission to humans
Russia said Saturday its scientists had detected the first case of transmission of the H5N8 strain of avian flu to humans and had alerted the World Health Organization, according to the AFP reports
Russian media quoted Popova as saying that experts from the government “Victor” Center for Virology and Biotechnology had discovered the genetic material for the aforementioned strain in seven employees of a poultry factory located in the south of the country, in which an outbreak of bird flu was detected late last year.
