Muscat: The GCC Statistical Center (GCC-Stat) signed a cooperation programme with the Arabian Gulf University (AGU) covering joint work in scientific research, statistical capacity building and the exchange of knowledge and technical expertise.
The programme includes the exchange of studies and research, the implementation of specialised training programmes and the organisation of joint scientific conferences and workshops.
It also covers technical and advisory visits aimed at strengthening cooperation and supporting joint GCC statistical work.
The two sides agreed to form a joint committee to follow up on the implementation of cooperation areas and develop an executive plan for proposed initiatives.
The initiative aims to support the development of a GCC statistical knowledge base and enhance the use of data in development processes across GCC countries.
This cooperation aligns with the Strategic Plan for Joint GCC Statistical Work (2026–2030), which focuses on building a reliable and advanced statistical system and strengthening academic partnerships.
It also seeks to develop national competencies capable of utilising data science and advanced statistical analysis to support decision-making.
The step reflects GCC-Stat’s approach to expanding partnerships with academic and research institutions to support joint priorities and strengthen the link between statistical knowledge and practical applications.
