Financial Governance and Efficiency Discussed at Governorates’ Forum
Sohar: The Office of the Governor of North Al Batinah today organized the Governorates’ Financial Forum under the theme “Governance, Efficiency and Impact.” The two-day forum is held as part of efforts to enhance the efficiency of financial management, entrench principles of governance and sustainability, and improve institutional performance, in line with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040.
The opening ceremony was held under the patronage of Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al Kindi, Governor of North Al Batinah.
Over the course of two days, the forum will address several key themes, including financial management in governorates, budgets and financial planning, governance and financial oversight, and financial policies and implementation-related challenges, in addition to showcasing best practices and exchanging expertise among governorates.
The first day of the forum featured the presentation of three specialized working papers. The first paper reviewed projections of financial policies in the Sultanate of Oman and their impact on governorates. The second paper focused on the operational framework of committees formed following the conclusion of the National Committee for Emergency Management. The third paper discussed results-based budgeting in comparison with line-item budgeting.
The first day also included a dialogue session titled “Financial Policies and Resource Management: Towards Efficiency and Sustainability at the Governorate Level,” which examined mechanisms for enhancing resource management efficiency and achieving financial sustainability in governorates. This was accompanied by a visual presentation highlighting the financial performance of North Al Batinah Governorate for 2025.
