Omani Hajj Mission Reviews Preparations for 1447 AH Season

Oman Introduces Smart Tracking for Pilgrims in 1447 AH Hajj Season

Muscat:  The Omani Hajj Mission today held a meeting with Hajj companies to review key developments and preparations for the 1447 AH Hajj season.

The meeting was chaired by Ahmed bin Saleh Al Rashidi, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs and Head of the Omani Hajj Mission.

Al Rashidi highlighted updates related to land transport, noting coordination with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to address challenges in line with new regulations and reduce operational and financial burdens on Hajj companies.

He said Omani buses will be permitted to transport pilgrims into Saudi Arabia to designated stations for those arriving directly in Makkah and those travelling from Madinah, with onward transport to the holy sites to be carried out by licensed Saudi buses.

He added that a smart tracking system has been introduced to monitor bus movements in real time, enabling faster response in emergency situations and enhancing the safety of pilgrims.

On accommodation, Al Rashidi said Mina camps have been upgraded with modern roofing to improve air distribution, alongside enhancements to lighting systems, flooring and service facilities to ensure greater comfort and safety.

Regarding air transport, he noted that coordination with relevant entities resulted in reduced ticket prices, the addition of Taif Airport as a destination, and the option to operate flights via Sohar Airport. He added that land pilgrim quotas decreased to 3,034 in the 1447 AH season, compared to 5,122 in the previous season.

Al Rashidi also pointed to the establishment of a new headquarters for the mission in Al Naseem area near the holy sites to facilitate access and improve service delivery.

On healthcare services, he said Hajj companies are now permitted to include doctors within their teams under the supervision of the mission’s medical delegation, with 17 doctors approved for the current season.

He affirmed the mission’s commitment to enhancing services and addressing logistical challenges to ensure a smooth and safe Hajj experience for Omani pilgrims.
