Halban street to get dual carriageway: Muscat Municipality

Muscat: To enhance traffic flow in the area, we have assigned the project to initiate construction of Halban Dual Carriageway (Phase I) in al-Mubeila in Seeb, with high-capacity traffic intersection and surface water drainage canals.

In a statement Muscat Municipality said: “As an endavour of Muscat Municipality to improve vehicular traffic in the area  and the connected streets; work has been assigned for the implementation of the project to construct Halban dual carriageway (Phase 1), which aims to address the growing traffic congestion in the area and improve traffic flow on Halban street. The project will construct a ground intersection with traffic lights to ensure a smooth traffic flow to the surrounding areas. The service roads all also provide direct entrances to the residential areas and improve the drainage system.”

Project components:

Construction of a dual carriageway for Halban street, starting from the intersection at Muscat Highway (IC16) extending to a lengthy of (1040) meters, and crosses the existing wadi.

Construction of a high capacity intersection, equipped with traffic lights for the entrance to the Mubeila 8.

Construction of (25) box culverts – size of (2*4)- on the existing wadi in the area, and side drainage channels to drain rainwater.

The traffic safety requirements will be based on modern design guide; protection, lighting, iron barriers, traffic sings, while transferring and protecting the affected services.
