Muscat: Sporadic thunderstorms accompanied by active downward winds are expected on Al Hajar Mountains and the surrounding areas, starting today, Saturday, from 12 pm, Oman Meteorology said in a heavy rain alert.
The affected areas include: Al Hajar Mountains, Al Dakhiliyah, South Al Batinah, Muscat, Al Dhahirah, North Al Sharqiyah, North Al Batinah and Al Buraimi.
Oman Meteorology said in the weather forecast that heavy rainfall is expected to range between (10-30) mm.
This also includes poor horizontal visibility during thundershowers and downdraft wind (20-40) KT, with chance of flow of wadis.
To ensure safety, the General Directorate of Meteorology advises people to adhere to the following:
– Immediately move away from low places and wadis.
– Make no attempt to swim in wadis.
– Do not risk crossing wadis in order to protect yourself and those with you in a vehicle.
– Keep an eye on children and never allow them to approach wadis.
