HH Sayyid Fahd Receives Members of GCC Financial, Economic Cooperation Committee

Muscat: HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, today received the members of the GCC Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee who are taking part in the committee’s 119th meeting, hosted by the Sultanate of Oman.

HH Sayyid Fahd expressed the Sultanate of Oman’s appreciation for all efforts exerted in economic, investment and business fields that contribute to the march of joint GCC economic action. He underscored the importance of topics addressed by the ministerial committee’s meeting and its role in enhancing joint GCC action to keep pace with developments of concern to the region during this period.

The meeting reviewed the agenda of the committee’s meeting, including the process of completing the requirements for the GCC Customs Union and activating the GCC Common Market. It also discussed tackling challenges hindering the achievement of GCC unity. Moreover, the meeting touched on aspects related to the programme of realizing economic unity among GCC states by 2025.

The members of the GCC Financial and Economic Cooperation Committee expressed their thanks for the Sultanate of Oman’s hosting of the current meeting and its sound preparation which resulted in reaching positive outcomes. They also lauded the constrictive role of Oman for the success of the GCC march.

The meeting was attended by Sultan Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance and Jassim Mohammed Al Budaiwi, Secretary General of the GCC. – ONA
