HH Sayyid Theyazin presides over ROP’s Annual Day celebrations

Muscat: The Royal Oman Police (ROP) held a ceremony at Sultan Qaboos Academy for Police Sciences (SQAPS) in the Wilayat of Nizwa today to mark ROP Annual Day, which falls on 5 January every year.

The celebration was presided over by HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth.

On this occasion, a graduation ceremony was held at the military parade grounds of the SQAPS. The ceremony saw the passing out of officer cadets who obtained a diploma in law and police sciences, university officer cadets, specialized officer cadets and service officer cadets.

The batch included officers from the Royal Court Affairs (RCA), the Internal Security Service (ISS), the Royal Guard of Oman (RGO) and delegates from the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan.

The celebration protocols began with a salutation to the chief guest. The commandant of the graduates’ column stepped forward, requesting HH Sayyid Theyazin to inspect the front row of the parade. The graduates performed a military show in front of the dais. Then, the chief guest handed over prizes to the top graduates.

This was followed by the passing of colours of the SQAPS from the graduating officers of the 45th batch to the officers of the 46th batch.

Then, the column of the passing out batch chanted the ROP Anthem “Humaat Al Haqq” and performed the oath of allegiance. They proclaimed thrice “Long Live His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, the Supreme Commander”. Then, they performed the salute to HH Sayyid Theyazin, signalling the conclusion of the military show.

Later, a column of ROP cavaliers performed a demo as they passed in front of the dais, as the ROP band played a succession of musical tunes.

On the sidelines of the celebration, HH Sayyid Theyazin visited the “Academic Research and Studies Centre” at the SQAPS. He took note of the library’s collections of reference books and other resources serving researchers, lecturers and trainees in the fields of security, law and police sciences. He also listened to a briefing about training labs specialized in criminal research, control of drugs and psychotropic substances and search and rescue operations.

HH Sayyid Theyazin also visited the ROP Music School at the academy. There, he graced the graduation of the first batch of Level-5 Musicians and other courses. He also attended a musical display presented by the graduates and viewed the facilities of the ROP Music School and the Music Museum.

The celebration included the announcement of winners of ROP Awards 2022. Muscat Governorate’s Police Command won first place in the “Traffic Safety Competition”, while the SQAPS occupied first position in the ROP’s “Infantry Competition”.

Then, commemorative photos were taken for HH Sayyid Theyazin, the graduate officers and staff of supervisory and training bodies.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, HH Sayyid Theyazin went on tour of the sports facilities of the SQAPS. He attended a competition, swimming shows at the Police College, demos of self-defence skills, Taekwondo and Karate.

The ceremony was attended by ministers, advisers, commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces, the ROP and other security and military units. It was also attended by members of the State Council, the Shura Council, judges, undersecretaries, directors-general of government establishments and authorities, sheikhs, dignitaries from Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah and parents of the graduates.
