Oman, FAO Review Cooperation in Food Security
Muscat: HH Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Economic Affairs, received today Dr. Qu Dongyu, Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), and his accompanying delegation, as part of his current visit to the Sultanate of Oman.
During the meeting, the two sides reviewed cooperation between Oman and FAO, particularly in the agriculture, fisheries and food sectors. They also explored means of strengthening the partnership in line with national priorities and sustainable development objectives.
Sayyid Theyazin underscored the importance of FAO’s continued efforts in implementing programmes and initiatives aimed at enhancing global food security and addressing challenges affecting the sustainability of food supply chains, especially amid rapid global changes.
For his part, the FAO Director-General expressed appreciation for Oman’s role in supporting international food security efforts. He affirmed the organization’s commitment to expanding cooperation with Oman and promoting the exchange of expertise to help achieve sustainable development goals
