Higher education minister receives delegation from International Science Council

Muscat: Dr. Rahma bint Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, received today a delegation from the International Science Council as part of its visit to a number of governmental and private institutions in the Sultanate of Oman with the aim of discussing aspects of cooperation and partnership in the fields of science, scientific research and innovation in the region.

The two sides discussed preparations for hosting the Sultanate of Oman, represented by the Ministry of Higher Education, Scientific Research and Innovation, the Knowledge Dialogue Forum, which is scheduled to be held in Muscat during the period from 22 to 26 January 2025. More than 500 participants, including officials, scientists and researchers from various countries of the world, are expected to attend.

The two sides also discussed a number of initiatives related to twinning Omani research centers and universities with their counterparts in various countries of the world and enhancing the quality of research and scientific publishing in academic institutions in the Sultanate. It should be noted that the International Science Council is an international non-governmental organization established in 2018 as a result of the merger between the International Council for Science and the International Council for the Social Sciences, and is headquartered in Paris, France, with high points of focus in Asia and the Pacific, Latin America and the United Nations Office in New York.
