Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik and President Dr. Frank-Walter Steinmeier of the Federal Republic of Germany held an official session of talks at Al Alam Palace today.
At the outset of the session, His Majesty the Sultan reiterated his welcome to President Steinmeier, wishing him and his accompanying delegation a pleasant stay.
On his turn, the German President expressed his utmost thanks and appreciation to His Majesty the Sultan for the warm welcome and hospitality.
The session reviewed bilateral relations and means of promoting them in various spheres to serve the joint interests. The two leaders exchanged views on the regional and international developments, as well as matters of common interests.
The official session of talks was attended from the Omani side by HH Sayyid Fahd bin Mahmoud Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for the Council of Ministers, HH Sayyid Asa’ad bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for International Relations and Cooperation Affairs, Personal Representative of His Majesty the Sultan, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, Gen. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nu’mani, Minister of the Royal Office, Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior, Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, Sultan bin Salim Al Habsi, Minister of Finance, Dr. Hamad bin Said Al Oufi, Head of the Private Office, Eng. Said bin Hamoud Al Ma’awali, Minister of Transport, Communications and Information Technology (Head of the Mission of Honour) and Maitha bint Saif Al Mahrouqi, Ambassador of Oman to Germany.
Meanwhile, it was attended from the German side by Dr. Tobias Lindner, Minister of State at the Foreign Ministry of the Federal Republic of Germany, Dirk Lölke, Ambassador of Germany to Oman, Wolfgang Silbermann, Head of the Foreign Policy Department of the Office of the Federal President and members of the official delegation accompanying the guest.
After that, His Majesty the Sultan and the German President held a closed-door session. – ONA
