Muscat: His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik today issued two Royal decrees reading as follows:
Royal decree No. (92/2022) conducts military appointments and promotions at the Ministry of Defence.
Article (1) appoints Maj.Gen Hamid Ahmed Said Sakroon as Head of the Academy for Strategic and Defence Studies.
Article (2) promotes Commodore Ali Abdullah Mohammed Al Shidi to the rank of Rear Admiral and appoints him as Commandant of the National Defence College.
Article (3) says that this decree shall be published in the official Gazette and enforced from its date of issue.
Royal Decree No. (93/2022) refers to the Sultan’s Armed Forces Day.
Article (1) states that the 11th of December every year shall be named as “Sultan’s Armed Forces Day”.
Article (2) stipulates that the Sultan’s Armed Forces Day shall be an official holiday for all members of the Sultan’s Armed Forces in all parts of Oman.
Article (3) cancels Royal Decree No. 49/76 on “Armed Forces Day”. It also cancels all that contradicts this decree or contravenes its provisions.
Article (4) says that this decree shall be published in the Official Gazette and enforced from its date of issue. – ONA
