His Majesty the Sultan’s Visit to Iran Takes Place in Backdrop of New, Positive Phase of Regional Relations

Muscat: Foreign Minister Sayyid Badr Hamad Al Busaidi has said that the visit of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the Islamic Republic of Iran today and tomorrow stems from the significance attached to bilateral relations by the two countries’ leaders. “The visit comes in pursuance of constructive cooperation and consultation about different issues on the regional and international arenas,” he explained.

Speaking to Asharq Al-Awsat newspaper on the occasion of the Royal visit to Tehran, Sayyid Badr said, “It is a well-known fact that Oman and Iran have developed historical relations of good neighborliness based on firm principles of mutual confidence and respect.

Sayyid Badr pointed out that the visit of His Majesty the Sultan to Iran takes place in the midst of a new phase of positive regional relations. “It is a step forward in enhancing consultation and cooperation to address many current issues that will undoubtedly be the topic of discussion between the two leaders,” said Sayyid Badr, noting that such discussions seek to consolidate the pillars of security and stability.

He stressed that the Royal visit confirms the attention that His Majesty the Sultan accords to relations between the two countries and their peoples.

“We in the Sultanate of Oman are optimistic that this historic visit will reflect positively on the region’s stability and security and that its outcome will be beneficial in regional and global terms,” Sayyid Badr said. -ONA
