His Majesty welcomes Emir of Kuwait

Muscat: Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah, Emir of the State of Kuwait arrived here today on a two-day state visit to the Sultanate of Oman.

His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik led the welcoming party for the Emir of Kuwait.

When the jet touched ground at the Royal Airport, His Majesty the Sultan met the guest at the foot of the ramp, welcoming him and wishing him and his accompanying delegation a pleasant stay in Oman.

When the guest’s jet entered the Omani airspace, it was escorted by a squadron of military aircrafts till its arrival at the Royal Airport, in a manifestation of warm welcome.

Along with His Majesty the Sultan, Sheikh Mishal Al Ahmad Al Jaber Al Sabah was received by HH Sayyid Shihab bin Tarik Al Said, Deputy Prime Minister for Defence Affairs, Sayyid Khalid bin Hilal Al Busaidi, Minister of the Diwan of Royal Court, Gen. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Nu’mani, Minister of the Royal Office, Sayyid Hamoud bin Faisal Al Busaidi, Minister of Interior (Head of the Mission of Honour), Sayyid Badr bin Hamad Al Busaidi, Foreign Minister, Dr. Saleh bin Amir Al Kharousi, Ambassador of Oman to Kuwait, Dr. Mohammed Nassir Al Hajri, Ambassador of Kuwait to Oman, members of the mission of honour and some members of the Kuwaiti Embassy in Muscat.

Then, His Majesty the Sultan and Sheikh Mishal headed to the hall, flanked by two rows of the Royal Guard of Oman (RGO).

After a short break, the motorcade of the two leaders left the Royal Airport, heading to Al Alam Palace for the official and popular reception.

As the motorcade passed Muscat Gate, a group of Royal Camel Corps lined both sides of the road, welcoming the guest. Then, a cavalcade from the Royal Cavalry and the RGO Cavalry escorted the official motorcade till the National Museum’s building, to the accompaniment of a mounted military music band.

Upon the arrival of the official motorcade at the yard leading to Al Alam Palace, a popular reception was held, with the participation of more than 600 male and female citizens. A cluster of folklore bands lined the passage, chanting lyrics in a manifestation of warm welcome to the guest.

When the official motorcade arrived at the boundary of Al Alam Palace, the artillery fired a twenty-one gun salute for the guest.

Upon the arrival of the motorcade at the courtyard of Al Alam Palace, a welcoming tune was played by the RGO band, in an atmosphere of fanfare and ambiance.

After that, His Majesty the Sultan accompanied Sheikh Mishal to the Dais of Honour where the National Anthem of the State of Kuwait was played.

Then, His Majesty the Sultan shook hands with members of the official delegation accompanying the Emir of Kuwait, wishing them a pleasant stay. On his turn, the Emir shook hands with some members of the Royal Family, Chairmen of the State Council and Shura Council, ministers, commanders of the Sultan’s Armed Forces (SAF) and the Royal Oman Police (ROP).

After that, His Majesty the Sultan and the guest proceeded to the hall where they took coffee.

The Emir of Kuwait is accompanied during the visit by an official delegation comprising Sheikh Mohammed Abdulaziz Al Jarrah Al Sabah, Sheikh Hamad Sabah Al Ahmed Al Sabah, Sheikh Mubarak Al Hamoud Al Jaber Al Sabah, Sheikh Athbi Nassir Al Athbi Al Sabah, Sheikh Ali Khalid Al Jaber Al Sabah, Sheikh Mansour Mubarak Abdullah Al Jaber Al Sabah, Sheikh Dr. Bassil Al Hamoud Al Malik Al Sabah, Sheikh Mohammed Abdullah Al Mubarak Al Sabah, Minister of Amiri Diwan Affairs, Dr.Imad Mohammad Abdulaziz Al Ateeqi, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Oil, Lt.Gen Jamal Mohammed Al Diab. Director of the Office of the Emir, Sheikh Khaled Al Abdullah Al Sabah Al Nasser Al Sabah, Head of Amiri Protocols, Yousef Hamad Al Roumi, Head of Media and Cultural Affairs at the Amiri Diwan, Mazen Issa Al Issa, Undersecretary of Foreign Affairs, Sheikh Nawaf Saud Al Nasser Al Sabah, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors and CEO of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation and Dr. Mohammed Nassir Al Hajri, Ambassador of Kuwait to Oman.  – ONA
