His Majesty’s visit to Enhance Musandam’s Economic Growth: Governor

Khasab: Sayyid Ibrahim Said Al Busaidi, Governor of Musandam, has said that the Royal tour of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik to the Musandam Governorate will give a strong boost to the development march in the Governorate.

Sayyid Ibrahim pointed out that the Royal visit, the first of its kind to the governorate since His Majesty the Sultan assumed the reins of leadership in Oman, was aimed at providing a closer look at the projects being implemented in economic and developmental fields. His Majesty the Sultan was keen to learn, in person, about the most important achievements that are currently being made to stimulate spatial economy in the governorate, he added.

Thanks to the Royal visit, the Governorate of Musandam will draw more attention, notably through emphasis on economic growth that directly benefits society, said Sayyid Ibrahim.

He explained that major projects currently underway include Dibba – Lima – Khasab road, the new Musandam Airport (which will be built in the Wilayat of Khasab) and the development of residential neighborhoods and city centres.

In the meantime, the logistics sector (by sea, land or air) will take centre stage in discussions, said Sayyid Ibrahim, noting that Khasab Port serves both the transportation sector and the fishing sector.

Sayyid Ibrahim said that, due to the fact that the geographical nature limits to space areas that can have tangible development, steps are underway to overcome this difficulty by establishing an industrial zone outside the port and integrating the services with it.    -ONA
