A’Seeb: The Imam Jabir bin Zaid Waqf Foundation held today its fourth annual ceremony in the Wilayat of A’Seeb, celebrating its achievements over the past year and launching a range of expanded community partnerships.
The ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Hilal Ali Al Sabti, Minister of Health, and attended by a number of senior officials.
The annual event aimed to highlight the Foundation’s accomplishments in the field of community endowments, review its future strategic directions and outline plans to enhance the developmental role of waqf in serving society, supporting local initiatives and expanding partnerships with government entities, the private sector and civil society institutions, in line with its mission.
During the past period, the Foundation’s executive management focused on digital transformation, contributing to improved accuracy in data management and operational efficiency. This shift has positively reflected on performance quality, speed of implementation and the reliability of information.
The ceremony witnessed the signing of several agreements and memoranda of understanding. These included a cooperation agreement with Sultan Qaboos University to support the Quranic Licenses project and Tajweed courses, and another agreement with the University Medical City to support the Sukoon Al Rahma (Mercy Housing) initiative at the Sultan Qaboos Comprehensive Cancer Care and Research Center.
An MoU was also signed with the Athar Health Waqf Foundation to strengthen strategic partnerships and enhance integration in the field of health endowments in response to contemporary challenges and sustainable development goals. Another MoU was concluded with the Bousher Waqf Foundation to establish an institutional cooperation framework aimed at advancing the waqf sector in the Sultanate of Oman and ensuring its sustainability in line with Sharia objectives.
As part of the event, the Foundation handed over “Atta” (Giving) initiatives to various charitable teams across the governorates of the Sultanate, supporting education and humanitarian assistance.
The ceremony also featured a dialogue session between the Foundation and its partners to discuss strategic directions and the development of endowment projects. In addition, a Sharia workshop titled “Between Waqf and Will: Sharia Regulations and Practical Applications” was delivered by Dr. Ahmed bin Salim Al Kharousi of Sultan Qaboos University. Attended by more than 100 participants, the workshop addressed the legal distinctions between waqf and wills, common drafting errors and practical applications through real-life models.
