Muscat: The Central Bank of Oman has issued two silver commemorative coins to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Oman’s modern renaissance and in gratitude to the civilizational legacy of the late Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimur – may God have mercy on him) – and an embodiment of the renewed renaissance led by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik.
One of the coins bears a side picture of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik- while the other currency bears a side picture of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos bin Said bin Taimur.
The Central Bank of Oman stated – in a statement – that the nominal value of one silver commemorative coin is one riyal, and the purity of silver is 0,999 and the diameter of the coin is 38.61 mm, while the weight of the coin is 28.28 grams and the year of mint is 2020. The selling price is 25 Omani riyals for the single currency, and 50 Omani riyals for the set of two currencies, but this price is subject to change according to changes in silver prices in global markets.
It is noteworthy that these commemorative coins are legal coins with their face value and can be purchased from the Central Bank of Oman from 29 November 2020.
