Information Minister presides over announcing the results of His Majesty the Sultan’s Cup for Youth

Muscat: At the behest of His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, Dr. Abdullah Nasser Al Harrasi, Minister of Information, today presided over a ceremony to announce the results of HM The Sultan’s Cup for Youth during the sports season of 2021/2022.

The results were as follows: 1st Salalah Club, 2nd Seeb Club, 3rd Masirah Club, Saham Club 4th, Oman Club 5th, Al Bashair Club 6th, Al Suwaiq Club 7th, Ahli Sadab and Al Salam won 8th place in a tie and Ibri Club 10th.

Bassil Ahmed Al Rawas, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Youth for Sports and Youth, delivered a speech on behalf of the Ministry reading as follows: “The competition is a true manifestation of the attention accorded to youth by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, with the aim of incentivizing clubs to continue upgrading their performance and serve as incubators for grooming young people and honing their skills to make them more capable of realizing their aspirations and ambitions.”

Since the launch of the competition in 1998, the Ministry has developed criteria of assessment to keep pace with the needs of each stage. The approach included aligning the objectives of the competition with the Ministry’s future plans and the Omani sports strategy to keep pace with the goals of Oman Vision 2040, said Al Rawas.

Acting in cooperation with an international house of expertise, the Ministry will conduct a study to evaluate the status of the sports sector in the Sultanate of Oman, with effect from January 2024.

At the conclusion of the ceremony, Dr. Abdullah Al Harrasi, Minister of Information crowned the champions and felicitated the winning clubs for their distinguished performance in His Majesty the Sultan’s Youth Cup competition 2021/2022.   -ONA
