Innovation, Entrepreneurship Centre Opened at MCBS in Muscat

Muscat: Modern College of Business and Science (MCBS) today opened a Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

The ceremony was held under the auspices of Dr. Rahma Ibrahim Al Mahrouqi, Minister of Higher Education, Research and Innovation. Speaking at the event, Dr. Salah Soumar Al Zadjali, Director General of Programmes and Capacity Building at the Ministry of Higher Education, Research and Innovation, said that the Ministry encourages and supports higher education institutions in establishing innovation centres.

He added that such initiatives undertaken by higher education institutions help develop business incubators and other services that would contribute to the localization of modern technology, the establishment of startups and, eventually, the consolidation of the national economy.

For his part, Dr. Moosa Abdullah Al Kindi, Dean of the MCBS, outlined ongoing efforts to develop the new Centre and upgrade its services in a manner that would benefits MCBS students and other beneficiaries beyond the college. Later, Dr. Rahma toured the Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship and listened to a comprehensive briefing about its units.
