Dhofar Marks International Day of Persons with Disabilities with Awareness Ceremony

Salalah: The Directorate General of Social Development in the Governorate of Dhofar today organized a ceremony marking the “International Day of Persons with Disabilities”, observed annually on 3 December. The event was hosted at Sultan Qaboos Youth Compound for Culture and Entertainment in Salalah.

This year’s observance carried the theme “Fostering disability-inclusive societies for advancing social progress.”

The ceremony featured three presentations: the first addressed the promotion of the rights of persons with disabilities; the second reviewed the services provided by Al Wafa Center for the Rehabilitation of Persons with Disabilities in Salalah; and the third explored methods for establishing inclusive environments that support persons with disabilities. The programme also included a public awareness drama and a musical operetta titled “Dear Homeland.”

The chief guest honoured the event’s organizers, acknowledging the Ministry of Social Development’s efforts to raise public awareness about the rights of persons with disabilities and to support their full and active participation in social and developmental processes.
