Jabal Al-Akhdar: The Wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar in the Governorate of A’Dakhiliyah is currently witnessing a large turnout of tourists and visitors from Oman and abroad who flock to the wilayat to enjoy the cool summer weather.

As many as 57,867 visitors, among them 16,476 Omanis, arrived in Al Jabal Al Akhdar during the first five months of this year (2023), according to the National Centre for Statistics and Information.

The wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar has been the scene of active seasonal rains, with overcast skies, and this made it a regular hotspot for many in the summer. The wilayat also enjoys various services and amenities, international resorts, 3-5 star hotels and guesthouses.

Ali Mohammed Al Busaidi, Deputy Wali of Al Jabal Al Akhdar, said that the wilayat was accorded special attention by the government and has undergone considerable development. He told Oman News Agency (ONA) that the government’s efforts helped furnish suitable grounds for tourism.

Al Busaidi pointed out that the Al Jabal Al Akhdar Festival, due to be held in August, will also accelerate the flow of tourists.

For his part, Ali Saif Al Shukaili, Assistant Director of the Heritage and Tourism Department in A’Dakhiliyah Governorate, said that, due to the current increase in the number of tourists to the wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar, the Ministry is conducting more field visits to check the level of quality of services provided by hotel establishments in the wilayat. He added that the wilayat’s 13 hotel establishments provide 734 rooms.

In addition, the wilayat has two tourism facilities under construction and they are expected to be completed by the end of this year (2023). These two facilities will provide 180 rooms, Al Shukaili explained. Tourist activities in the summer include various types of sports, mountain climbing, hiking and visiting caves and ancient villages in the wilayat of Al Jabal Al Akhdar. – ONA
