Spring of Roses 2026 in Oman Drives Tourism Growth and SME Participation

Nizwa:  A’Dakhiliyah Governorate has reinforced its position as a key driver of tourism and local economic activity through the successful conclusion of the “Spring of Roses 2026” season in the Wilayat of Jabal Al Akhdar.

The season reflected integrated planning and organization, contributing to enhancing the governorate’s attractiveness as a tourist destination during the first half of the year, while supporting economic diversification efforts.

The event capitalized on the natural and agricultural features of Jabal Al Akhdar, particularly the mountain rose, which represents a key element of local heritage and a contributor to tourism and economic activity.

The season featured a range of cultural, artistic and tourism activities, including heritage performances, exhibitions of local products, visual arts initiatives and photography competitions, in addition to community and sporting events.

Ahmed bin Salim Al Tobi, Director General of Administrative and Financial Affairs at A’Dakhiliyah Governorate, said that the season serves as a model for supporting economic diversification by linking tourism, agriculture and manufacturing sectors.

He added that more than 65 small and medium enterprises and productive families participated in the accompanying exhibition, while over 75 direct and indirect job opportunities were generated.

He pointed out that events such as the “Rose Trail”, which attracted around 400 participants, contributed to enhancing community engagement and linking tourism with environmental and educational aspects.

A specialized seminar was also organized to discuss the development of rose cultivation and related industries, addressing production, manufacturing, quality standards and marketing, as well as opportunities to enhance competitiveness in local and international markets.

The season contributed to revitalizing traditional industries associated with roses, including rose water and essential oil production, in addition to supporting hotel occupancy rates and tourism-related services.

Data indicate that Jabal Al Akhdar includes around 6,000 rose trees, producing approximately 30,000 litres of rose water annually, with an estimated value of RO 210,000.
