Khasab Port receives “Mein Schiff 6”, cruise ship carrying more than 2,100 tourists from different countries.

Muscat: Khasab Port in the Musandam Governorate received the Mein Schiff 6 of TUI Cruises company,  carrying more than 2,100 tourists from different countries of the world.

With the start of the marine tourism season and within the framework of the efforts made to return the tourist movement and consolidate the position of the Sultanate of Oman, as a leading and distinguished destination for the cruise tourism sector in the region.

Officials from the Ministry of Heritage and Tourism and specialists in the Office of the Minister of State and Governor of Musandam were at the forefront of receiving the ship.

This is the first visit of cruise ships to the ports of the Sultanate of Oman after the start of the tourism season.

The Ministry of Heritage and Tourism, in coordination with the relevant authorities, was keen to call for the implementation of all precautionary and preventive measures to limit the spread of the virus in accordance with the instructions issued by the Supreme Committee.

The tourism of cruise ships and luxury yachts is also one of the types of attractive tourism and one of the promising sectors of Oman tourism because of the importance this sector represents in promoting the Sultanate of Oman as one of the prominent destinations regionally and globally by attracting major international companies that manage international ships to dock in the various ports of the Sultanate and then benefit from the presence of this category of tourists by organizing trips and tourism programs for different destinations, thus maximizing the benefit of the local community by contributing to providing job opportunities and supplementing the local product.

During the 2018/19 season, the Sultanate of Oman recorded an increase in the number of visitors coming via cruise ships by more than 45 percent, reaching 283,000 visitors compared to the 2017/2018 season, which was 193,000 tourists.
