Khawla Hospital opens the expansion of Obstetrics and Gynecology Emergency Department

Muscat: The General Directorate of Khawla Hospital today opened the expansion of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Emergency Department and the restarting of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department after its modernization in the hospital, under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Saeed bin Harib Al Lamki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Affairs.

The obstetrics and gynecology ward included an emergency gynecology and obstetrics department with 4 beds and an examination room, while the maternity hall department in its first phase included 4 beds and a room designated for artificial labor with two beds.

The department also includes 10 rooms for the final stage of postpartum, and includes a pregnant ward with 16 beds, 36 beds in the postpartum ward, 30 beds in the obstetrics and gynecology ward, 3 operating rooms, and 2 beds in the recovery room.

Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed Al-Alawi, Director General of the General Directorate of Khawla Hospital, confirmed to the Oman News Agency that the opening of the expansion and the restarting of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department after its modernization comes as part of the Directorate’s ongoing vision to provide the best health services to the community and provide optimal and advanced care for them, adding that the new expansion included increasing the number of beds and equipping Its departments are equipped with the latest technologies and modern medical equipment, with the presence of specialized and qualified nursing staff.

For his part, Dr. Abdullah bin Muhammad Al-Salti, Assistant Director General of Medical Affairs at Khawla Hospital, said in his speech during the celebration that the project to expand the obstetrics and gynecology emergency and restart the obstetrics and gynecology department after its modernization is a step that raises the level of services provided in the obstetrics and gynecology department in terms of quality and raises the level of service to the third level. services and introducing rare or synonymous specialties.

He pointed out that the average number of births in Khawla Hospital is 4,500 births per year, and the number of births last year reached 3,691, and in the current year the number of births in Khawla Hospital reached 2,813. He stated that the total number of operations at Khawla Hospital for Obstetrics and Gynecology last year amounted to more than 1,848 operations, and in the current year it has reached 1,803 operations.

The General Directorate of Khawla Hospital in the Obstetrics and Gynecology Clinic last year also received more than 22,645 patients, and the number of patients in this year is 22939 so far.

He stressed that the General Directorate, represented by Khawla Hospital, Al Nahda Hospital, and Al Wattayah Obstetrics and Gynecology Complex, seeks to complete the tireless efforts in the medical system in the Sultanate of Oman and create a qualitative shift in services to the third and fourth levels, in terms of the efficiency of the service provided according to approved international standards, and the exploitation of available resources at the highest level of practical productivity.

For her part, Dr. Rahma bint Salem Al-Ghabshiyeh, Head of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department at Khawla Hospital, pointed out in her speech the qualitative development of the services provided in the department, represented by highly specialized and complex operations, especially in the field of gynecological endoscopy and obstetric surgeries, with the presence of qualified and specialized staff.

She stated that reliance had been started on the televised clinic service, which improved the service provided and contributed significantly to clinic appointments, and office operations performed in outpatient clinics such as office hysteroscopy, uterine cleaning operations in the post-abortion clinic, and cervical speculum were developed.

His Excellency Dr. Saeed bin Hareb Al Lamki, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Health for Health Affairs, toured the expanded Obstetrics and Gynecology Emergency Department and the restarting of the Obstetrics and Gynecology Department after its modernization and listened to a comprehensive explanation of the expansion and the efforts made by the General Directorate of Khawla Hospital to provide health care and services to patients.
