RO 560,000 Agreement Signed to Develop Pulmonary Services at Khoula Hospital
Muscat: The Ministry of Health, represented by the General Directorate of Khoula Hospital, signed today a funding agreement with Al Yusr Charitable Foundation to establish an integrated pulmonary unit at Khoula Hospital at a cost of RO 560,000.
The agreement was signed by Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed Al Alawi, Director General of Khoula Hospital, and Omar bin Mohammed Al Farsi, Director General of Al Yusr Charitable Foundation.
The project aims to support efforts to enhance specialized healthcare services in the Sultanate of Oman, particularly in the field of respiratory health, and aligns with the objectives of Oman Vision 2040 and the health sector’s goal of achieving sustainable and comprehensive healthcare services.
Dr. Rashid bin Mohammed Al Alawi said that the integrated pulmonary unit represents an important step in developing specialized medical services and expanding the use of advanced technologies in the diagnosis and treatment of respiratory diseases. He noted that the unit is expected to begin operations at the start of next year.
He added that the project will contribute to improving diagnostic accuracy, accelerating treatment procedures, reducing waiting times, and enhancing the quality of healthcare services provided to patients.
Dr. Al Alawi also highlighted the importance of the partnership with Al Yusr Charitable Foundation in supporting national healthcare initiatives and strengthening cooperation between public and community institutions.
For his part, Omar bin Mohammed Al Farsi said that the project reflects the Foundation’s commitment to supporting the healthcare sector and contributing to the development of medical services through community partnership initiatives.
The integrated pulmonary unit will provide a comprehensive range of services under one facility, including bronchoscopy procedures, pulmonary function testing, and the diagnosis and treatment of sleep disorders.
The facility will include a bronchoscopy suite, a respiratory function laboratory, and a sleep disorders laboratory, supported by specialized medical teams from Khoula Hospital and Al Nahda Hospital.
The unit is expected to enhance the quality and efficiency of respiratory healthcare services through the use of advanced medical technologies and integrated diagnostic and treatment capabilities.
