Live Supreme Committee: Oman has reserved over 8.5 million doses of Covid-19 vaccine

Muscat: The 26th press conference of the Supreme Committee in charge of examining the mechanism of dealing with developments resulting from the spread of the new Corona virus “Covid 19”.

Here are the latest updates:

The Minister of Health:  The number of injuries recorded yesterday in the Sultanate is 101, the total number of cases 300,784, and those who were admitted to the wards in all health institutions yesterday are 12 patients, the total number in the wards is 79 patients, and the total number in units Intensive care / 68 / patients.

Minister of Health: 2 deaths in the past 24 hours, the total number of deaths stands at 4049, and the epidemiological situation in the Sultanate is constantly improving

Minister of Health: During the peak of this wave, the number of inpatients in intensive care reached 538/ patients, and the total previously inpatients at the previous peak exceeded 1,590/ patients.

Minister of Health: Oman has reserved over 8,500,000 doses of Covid-19 vaccines so far

Minister of Health: Eight vaccines in the Sultanate, include Pfizer, Moderna, Sinovac and Sputnik

Minister of Health: On the topic of third dose of Covid-19,”The idea of a third dose, scientifically is premature. The World Health Organistaion has not recommended to take third dose of the Covid-19 vaccine

Minister of Health: After some countries decided to give the vaccine to those aged 6 years and above, we have decided to reserve additional doses.

Minister of Health: The number of Covid-19 doses that the Sultanate has received so far is over 3,950,000

Minister of Health: There are countries where the vaccination rate has reached 80%, but the infections have returned

Minister of Health: Vaccines prevent the severity of the disease, reduce the rate of hospitalization and reduce deaths, but they do not prevent transmission of the virus.

Minister of Health: Vaccination is not mandatory but it is our duty to protect the society

Minister of Health: We expect every Omani citizen to receive the second dose by mid-September, and accordingly, we can start implementing the measures issued by the Supreme Committee

Minister of Health: Any citizen, even if not vaccinated, abroad will be allowed to enter the Sultanate, provided that the approved health procedures should be adhered.

Director General of Disease Control and Control at the MOH: 100% return to work in all government sectors and institutions starting from the first of September 1st.

The Minister of Health: The management of this pandemic by the Supreme Committee is done through gradual decision-making, technical studies and dialogues.

Minister of Health: There will be a meeting soon on exempting the children of GCC from PCR tests, if they have received two doses of vaccines approved in these countries.

Minister of Health: Forged Covid PCR certificates are one of the reasons for insisting on tests on arrival and at the end of the quarantine period.
