Livestock vaccination campaign launched in Al Wusta

Duqm: The Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources, represented by the General Directorate of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in Al Wusta Governorate, launched the livestock vaccination project in Al Wusta Governorate through an awareness seminar to highlight the importance of vaccination and its role in protecting livestock.

Dr. Ali bin Abdullah Al-Alawi, Director General of the General Directorate of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources in the Central Governorate, said that the project aims to protect humans from diseases common to animals within the One Health approach.

The project also contributes to providing safe and healthy animal products with high nutritional value, reducing the cost of medical services, in addition to protecting the local environment and making it free of infectious and epidemic diseases that pose health and economic risks, in order to create a good, healthy and attractive climate for investment.

He explained that the statistics of the Central Governorate for the year 2023 AD showed that more than (105) thousand vaccination doses were used, and the number of beneficiaries of vaccination services reached (1115 beneficiaries), and the campaign included (101) villages and animal gatherings, as the general vaccination rate in the governorate reached 82.4% and the coverage rate was 66.1% for all animals.

The directorate also seeks to raise the coverage rate through this year’s vaccination campaign to 70% according to the ministry’s targets for the year 2024.
