Low pressure to affect Oman; heavy rain, hail from April 23

Heavy rain, hail forecast for several parts of Oman from Tuesday.

Muscat: CAA issues weather report (1) expected weather condition during 23rd – 25th April 2024   

CAA said: “The forecasts and analyses from the National Early Warning Center for Multiple Hazards indicate that the weather in the Sultanate of Oman will be affected by a Trough of a low- pressure system starting from Tuesday, April 23, until Thursday, April 25″, 2024. It is expected that clouds will form and rain chances will vary in intensity, occasionally associated with thunderstorms and downdraft winds. Hail may also fall, leading to the flow of streams and valleys in the provinces of Al-Buraimi, North Al-Batinah, South Al-Batinah, Adh Dhahirah, Muscat, Ad Dakhiliyah, North Ash Sharqiyah, South Ash Sharqiyah, and Musandam.

Tuesday 23″ April 2024:

Cloud formation with chances of isolated rain occasionally thundershower (10-30 mm), leading to the flow of streams and valleys in the governorates of Al-Buraimi, North Al-Batinah, South Al-Batinah, Al Dhahira, Muscat, Al Dakhylia, North Al Sharqiya, South Al Sharqiya, and Musandam.

Fresh winds blowing at speeds ranging between (15-35 knots).

Wednesday 24″ April 2024: Continuation of cloud formation and isolated rain occasionally thundershowers (5-20 mm), which may lead to the flow of streams and valleys in the Al-Hajar Mountains and adjoining areas may extending to the coastal areas of Oman Sea.

Fresh winds blowing at speeds ranging between (15-35 knots).

Thursday 25″ April 2024:

Continuation of cloud formation and isolated rain occasionally thundershowers (5-15 mm), which may lead to the flow of streams and valleys in the Al-Hajar Mountains and adjoining areas may extending to the coastal areas of Oman Sea.

Fresh winds blowing at speeds ranging between (15-35 knots).

Civil Aviation Authority advices all to take precaution during rainfall and flash flood flow and to check visibility and sea state before sailing and follow the issued weather bulletins & reports.
