Muscat: Heavy to moderate rains lashed several governorates in the past six days, according to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA).
In a statement, CAA said, ‘A number of wadis overflowed, and low-level clouds spread over parts of Oman.’
According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Water Resources (MAFWR), the highest amount of rainfall was recorded in the Wilayt of Mahdah with 124mm in six days (June 24 to 29).
Data collected from the rain monitoring stations of MAFWR from Tuesday till Sunday showed that the Wilayat of Mahdah received (124) mm of rainfall, Shinas received 105mm of rainfall, Liwa 103 mm, Dibba 90mm, Madha 75mm, Ibri 61mm, Khasab 53mm, Barka 43mm, Sohar 37mm, Taqah 36mm, Quriyat 35mm, Masirah 32mm, Nizwa 27mm, Mutrah 23mm and Seeb 22mm.
Meanwhile, the Royal Oman Police has urged users of Jabal Shams Road in Dakhiliyah governorate to drive cautiously and leave a safe distance between vehicles, as the muddy and wet soil present on the road may cause skidding. In addition, it urges people to avoid venturing into wadis.
