

Mahdha: The Mahdha Honey and Dates Forum 2023 was opened today in the state of Mahdha, under the patronage of His Excellency Dr. Saud bin Hamoud Al Habsi, Minister of Agricultural Wealth, Fisheries and Water Resources.
The forum, which continues until next Sunday in the sports hall of the Al Nahda Club in the Wilayat of Mahdha, includes an exhibition of honey and dates in which about 60 honey and date producers from inside and outside the Sultanate of Oman will participate.
The opening ceremony of the forum witnessed the signing of agreements to maintain a number of aflaj in the Wilayat of Mahdha, including Falaj Mahnoun, Falaj Al-Dhaher, Falaj Al-Khabeen, and the construction of the Wadi Al-Hayul protection wall.
Zaher bin Mohammed Al Kaabi, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber’s branch in Buraimi Governorate, said that the Mahdha Honey and Dates Forum, which is organized by the Chamber’s branch in Buraimi Governorate in partnership with a number of government agencies and private institutions, comes in the context of rapid global developments, adding that organizing the forum reflects the firm trend towards strengthening and developing the sector’s business. Private sector in various fields, including agriculture, because of its economic and nutritional importance and value.
He stated that the forum focuses on the areas of honey and date production in the Sultanate of Oman, and reflects the commitment of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry to support promising economic sectors and enhance their trade at the local and international levels, stressing that the agricultural sector and its related projects constitute a major engine of the economy, and an important axis in the National Vision 2040.
He pointed out that the honey and dates industry has great potential for growth and expansion, and this forum is an opportunity to discuss the best ways to achieve this growth and enhance the added value of this sector.
The opening of the forum was attended by His Excellency Dr. Hamad bin Ahmed Al Busaidi, Governor of Al Buraimi, His Excellency Sheikh Faisal bin Abdullah Al Rawas, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry, their Excellencies the governors and their deputies in Al Buraimi Governorate, and a number of honorable people, their Excellencies and officials in the government and private sectors.
