Road Infrastructure Upgrades Underway Between Salalah and Taqah
Salalah: The Ministry of Transport, Communications and Information Technology is continuing work on a road maintenance project along the Al Ma’mura–Taqah Road in Dhofar Governorate, covering a total length of 44 kilometres at a cost of approximately RO 1.5 million.
Eng. Omar Ahmed Muflih, Director of the Road Maintenance Department at the Directorate General of Roads and Land Transport in Dhofar Governorate, told Oman News Agency (ONA) that the project includes the addition of a new asphalt layer over a stretch of 11 kilometres on both sides of the road, extending from Al Ma’mura Roundabout in Salalah to Taqah Roundabout.
He added that the project also involves the rehabilitation of the Hamran, Nashib and Taqah roundabouts, in addition to the installation of guardrails, road markings and traffic signposts, as part of efforts to enhance road safety.
The project, which is scheduled for completion by November 2026, aims to develop road infrastructure, improve traffic flow, enhance safety standards, and facilitate movement between the Wilayats of Salalah and Taqah.
The Ministry affirmed its commitment to establishing a safe and integrated road network that supports urban and social development and contributes to economic and service activities across Dhofar Governorate.
