Muscat: Mall of Muscat has been honoured with the 2023 Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Shopping Centre and Retailer Award, securing its position as a leader in traditional marketing excellence category, for cause related marketing. The distinguished event was held in Dubai, celebrating the most innovative and creative retail achievements across the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region.
Mall of Muscat’s triumph in the ’cause-related marketing’ category underscores its commitment to socially responsible initiatives.
The Mall of Muscat’s cause-related marketing initiative was as a strategic response to Oman’s post-pandemic economic challenges. Recognising the surge in Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) as a critical economic driver, the mall leveraged its resources to support some SMEs and students struggling with academic fees. Collaborating with Al Rahma Association, Oman Tourism College (OTC), and Scientific College of Design (SCD), they identified SMEs and students in need, offering them free stalls at the mall’s main event during the Eid-Al-Fitr/Ramadan season. This event, themed as an Open Ramadan Majlis, featured 21 stalls designed by SCD and occupied by selected SMEs and OTC students, allowing them to sell various products without any charge or fees, thus providing them a significant opportunity to generate revenue and support their ventures and academic pursuits.
A spokesperson for the mall expressed pride in this achievement, stating, “We are extremely honoured to be recognised with this award for our extremely high work standards practiced in the category. Award winners in the cause-related marketing are appreciated for a strong commitment to community through events, programmes, and projects that support charitable organisations or address community needs. Mall of Muscat is proud to receive this prestigious award and this accolade reflects the Mall’s dedication to our visitors and our commitment to social causes.”
The Mall of Muscat stands as a sprawling commercial hub, spanning approximately 200,000 square meters, with ample space for over 3,000 vehicles in its parking facilities. Aside from its retail offerings, the Mall provides an array of family-oriented attractions including a cinema, an entertainment zone, and notably, the Oman Aquarium—the nation’s largest and sole public aquarium. Housing over 240 brands across various categories like fashion, lifestyle, sports, and electronics, the Mall of Muscat delivers an unmatched shopping experience to both local and international visitors.
